Press Release: In a surprise last minute move, Rep. Steve Stockman has joined the U. S. Senate race in Texas. The decision runs counter to the discussion at a breakfast meeting Dwayne Stovall had with Rep. Stockman just a few days earlier, but Stockman’s entry has hardened Stovall’s supporters.
Stovall’s campaign manager, Brett Rogers, assessed the situation this way. “In a race that is now almost certain to go to a runoff election, our people look forward to letting Stockman go head to head with Stovall for the Republican nomination.”
Stovall released the following statement:
“I’ve known Rep. Stockman for some time. I believe his entry will bring some good humor to the race, and while humor is refreshing, our statewide grassroots organization strengthens by the day. This election is about honesty and an ability to remain close to and listen to the people of Texas.”
“Our campaign is called Putting Texas First for a reason. If Texans are tired of establishment money buying a seat a Washington, they’re about to watch a lot of it trade hands. I’d rather rely on the deep and passionate grassroots of the Lone Star State.”
Stovall is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator John Cornyn. Sen. Cornyn is running for re-election to his third six-year term.
Dwayne Stovall is a small businessman from Liberty County in the heart of Texas. He is married to his high school sweetheart of 22 years, and has three children. More information on the candidate and his campaign may be obtained atwww.texansforstovall.com.
