Swearing-In of Mike Carter, New Commissioner for Precinct 4

Mike Carter.Still001Today at 10AM, Judge Sterling Lacy administered the oath of office to Mike Carter as the new commissioner of Precinct 4, with Carter’s wife Charlene holding the Bible.

Carter replaces Pat McCoy, who resigned yesterday. McCoy served as Commissioner from January 1 , 2010, and was defeated by Carter in the Republican primary last month.

Carter is selling his share of Central Air Conditioning & Plumbing in Texarkana to his partner. “We’ve had a buy-sell agreement in place for 20 years, but we were going to wait until this fall to finalize it. This is short notice, but we’ve figured out a way to make it work. I’ll be a full-time Commissioner,” Carter said.

  1. I haven’t been much of a fan of Pat McCoy as a county commissioner but he did do the honorable thing here and went ahead and moved on. Now, if we can just get one more of the commissioners to be reasonable, we might get our county back for the good of all of the people, not just a chosen few. Thanks Pat for stepping down early.
