Legally Blonde, a Tex Rep Production in conjunction with Texarkana College Drama Dept, recently ran the last two weekends. This was a delightful musical appropriate for the whole family to enjoy.
Michael Cooper, Director of Visual Performing Arts, always produces a winner. With stellar performances by Amelie Karam as Elle Wood, Andrew Clayton as the fickle boyfriend Warner, and Amy Coleman as Paulette, Elle’s hairdresser who is infatuated with a suave hip-swinging delivery man, played by Culen McElhannon. Elle’s sorority sisters AKA the Greek Chorus, the whole cast outperformed itself, including Teacup as Bruiser, the Chihuahua, and Hercules as Paulette’s bulldog. Cooper both directed and choreographed the production. Scenic design, which was constantly in motion, was by Chris Polson, winner of the 2014 Big Easy Award for Scenic Design.
After door prizes were given out by Stacy Mayo, President of the Board of Directors of Tex Rep, Cooper gave a brief summary of the scholarships and the funds needed to provide them to the talented young men and women of our community.
Fun souvenirs, full of bling and pink were for sale, along with cookies and cupcakes, to help raise money for the organization. And booths were set up to assist you with purchasing memberships in Tex Rep.
