In Bowie County Commissioners Court today, the commissioners voted to purchase and install a new sound system.
County Clerk Tina Petty, the ex officio clerk of the Court, presented a bid from Sound Towne for approximately $2000, which includes 6 microphones, one for each member of the Court, plus one for guests. The Court explored alternative means of sound reinforcement, including an offer from Commissioner Sammy Stone to loan the Court his system that he uses in nightclubs, which might have “a little whiskey, beer, and smoke smell to it.”
After discussion of what extra equipment would be needed with Commissioner Stone’s system, and whether it could be stored in the Courtroom, Commissioner Kelly Blackburn suggested that he and Stone each contribute $1000 from their budgets. Stone agreed, and the Commissioners voted unanimously to use their funds to purchase the system.
Petty asked the Court if they wanted her to initiate the purchase and installation today, and there was a chorus of “Yes!” from almost everyone in the room.
