US 82 Project Construction Update
Press Release: James Construction Group, LLC began concrete paving operations on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 starting in De Kalb and working east. This phase represents a significant milestone in the completion of the eastbound lanes. Unless affected by weather conditions, the contractor anticipates completion of this phase in March, 2015. In an attempt to reduce inconvenience to the traveling public during the holidays, the contractor will not work from Monday, December 22, 2014 through Sunday, January 4, 2015.
After the holidays, the contractor will resume concrete paving operations. They will begin setting up lane closure traffic control at 7:30 am each day. These lane closures are necessary for the safety of the traveling public and construction workers. Flaggers will stop both eastbound and westbound traffic to ensure their safety while a pilot car will lead motorists through the work zone.
Work may continue into the evening hours after sunset. Driver awareness will be essential in creating a safe work zone during the nighttime hours. Please reduce speed and avoid distractions while driving in the work zone. As always, travelers are encouraged to seek alternate routes or to expect delays using this section of US 82 in Bowie County.
