The Salvation Army Corps in Texarkana is providing an Emergency Disaster Training to anyone who may be interested in volunteering to help during disaster situations both locally and statewide. Volunteers are needed in disaster situations to help prepare food for victims, set up emergency cots and beds in the shelter and to gather needed clothes and personal hygiene kits for those who have been affected.
This training will consist of two sessions; Friday January 16th from 6-7:30 PM and Saturday January 17th from 8-5 PM. The education includes an Introduction to Emergency Management, ServSafe Handler and Safe from Harm classes. Upon completion of these trainings participants will receive a certification from The Salvation Army to respond to any emergency disasters where they are engaged.
The Salvation Army is searching for community volunteers, college students, church members and/or civic groups that might be interested in this endeavor.
This training is free and available to anyone in the community who might be interested. Due to the fact there is a limited amount of space available for this opportunity they encourage you to register as soon as possible.
Salvation Army will provide all snacks and lunch for the training on Saturday.
The training site will be The Salvation Army Church, 315 E. 4th Texarkana, Arkansas.
