The Bowie County Livestock and Forage Committee will be hosting a Spring Ranch Field Day on Thursday, April 30 at the Chris Moser Island Farm north of DeKalb.
Registration for the field day will begin at 9:30AM with the meeting starting at 10AM and lasting until 2PM. Lunch will be provided to attendees.
Topics for this year’s field day include: Marketing Your Calf Crop, When to Cull a Cow, Managing Hay Fields for Optimal Production and External Parasite Control Tips and Options.
Attendees with Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide licenses will receive 2 hours of CEU credit (1 hour in General credit and 1 hour of Integrated Pest Management from Nature First Pest Control).
Cost for the field day is $10 per person. An RSVP is requested to the Bowie County Extension office at 903-628-6702 by April 28. Space is still available for vendors wishing to support the event.
Directions to the field day (from Dekalb): Take Highway 259 north of DeKalb about 11 miles and turn left onto County Road 3406. Travel about 2.6 miles to the ‘T’. Turn right onto County Road 3405 and travel about 1.1 miles. The road will end at a silver gate with a sign that reads ‘Chris Moser Farm’. Watch for field day signs in the area.
Persons wanting to attend who have special needs are asked to contact the Extension office at least 5 work days in advance so that necessary accommodations can be made.
