Disaster Declared in Bowie County; More Flooding Anticipated

Bowie County TexasPress Release: Bowie County joins the growing list of Texas counties that have declared a state of disaster due to recent severe weather which has included excessive rainfall, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and historic flooding.

“I want to thank our first responders, commissioners, road and bridge crews, and community at large for working together and around the clock to respond to this disaster. To date, we have had no serious injuries or loss of life reported and I want to keep it that way throughout this disaster,” said James Carlow, Bowie County Judge.

Flooding along the Red River has impacted communities throughout Bowie County and more flooding is anticipated with the forecast for more rain and the release of water upstream from both Lake Texoma and Lake Hugo.

“I am signing this Disaster Declaration and sending a letter to Governor Abbott to ensure that we have adequate resources to respond and recover from this event,” said Judge James Carlow.
