Obituary - Chris ElrodChris Elrod, of New Boston, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015, at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 82.

Chris was born January 14, 1933, in Clay, Missouri, to Thomas Edward and Velma Gladys Day Henderson. She was a bookkeeper and a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Arnett; a brother, Sam Henderson; a granddaughter, Cherie Collins, in 1988; and a son, Timothy Elrod, in 2014.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry F. and Colleen Collins of Malvern, Arkansas and Mark and Liz Elrod of De Kalb, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan Landers of Avery, Texas and Gale and Larry Stevens of Simms, Texas; a sister, Juanita Tatum of Burton, Michigan; a special nephew, Johnny Pillow of Dallas, Texas; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 4:30 P.M. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Bro. Billy Blakeney officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.

The family will be at the home of Ms. Elrod, 200 S. Ellis St., New Boston, Texas.
