Two Local Arkansas Women Elected to National Convention

Every four years the DNC and the RNC hold national conventions with delegates and this year two Texarkana, Arkansas women will be in attendance at the RNC.

Texarkana, AR: The Democratic National Convention (DNC) and the Republican National Convention (RNC) are both gearing up for their respective conventions later this year. As part of that process, both conventions usually have delegates. For the Republican National Convention, delegates are elected from districts and then at a state level . These delegates go to the national convention and cast the votes for the party nomination for President. This year two Texarkana, Arkansas women will be in attendance.

On Saturday, June 20, the state Republican Party had the summer meeting in Hot Springs. Delegates were elected for the Republican National Convention to be held in August in Jacksonville, Florida. Arkansas has twenty-five delegates with twenty-five alternate slots. Cathy Hardin Harrison of Texarkana was elected to the first convention. Sharon Wright of Texarkana was also elected to the first convention.

Delegates are elected by the party from a statewide range of candidates which includes elected officials, party officials, and individuals.

Cathy Hardin Harrison

Cathy Hardin Harrison currently serves as Miller County Judge and State Committeewoman for the Miller County Republican Committee. She is also an active member of the Miller County Republican Women’s group.

Sharon Wright

Sharon Wright is the Miller County Republican Committee Treasurer. She is also the 4th District Chair of the Republican Party of Arkansas. Sharon is an active member of the Miller County Republican Women’s group.
