COVID Cancels 2020 Nutcracker Ballet in Texarkana

The popular Nutcracker Ballet, presented by the Texarkana Community Ballet will not be seen in Texarkana this year due to COVID19.

Texarkana, USA: As a year that most of us would like to forget winds down, COVID has managed to knock out the Annual Nutcracker Ballet in Texarkana. In September of this year, the Texarkana Community Ballet made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Nutcracker Ballet. The cancellation strikes at a Texarkana tradition for young and old alike and the opportunity for the ballet dancers of the city to shine.

The Texarkana Community Ballet cited problems and regulations currently in place for the COVID-19 Pandemic. It was noted that with the state public health guidelines and recommendations a large cast could not participate in auditions, rehearsals, or perform as the program requires. It was also noted that community participation would be severely limited due to social distancing and regulations.

The Texarkana Community Ballet concluded with a positive statement and one to encourage young and old dancers as well as those enjoying the ballet year-after-year:

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we monitor the area’s ever-changing health issues. We are grateful for your dedication to Texarkana Community Ballet and to our incredible dancers, our beautiful repertory, and our commitment to dance education. We look forward to the time when we can return to the stage and share the beauty and joy of classical ballet with you.
