WASHINGTON COUNTY JUDGE, JOSEPH WOOD, ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR

ARKANSAS – Washington County Judge Joseph Wood announced today his candidacy to become the next Lieutenant Governor of the great state of Arkansas.

“I’m running for Lieutenant Governor because there are big issues facing our state and my record of cutting government waste, recruiting new businesses, and standing for conservative values are needed for a better Arkansas,” said Joseph Wood. “I will bring to the office real–world experience from working with major corporations in the private sector to being a small business owner and fighting for our shared pursuit of life and liberty in the state.”

Joseph is currently serving his second term as County Judge. Overseeing a county that is growing by fifteen families every day in one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, Joseph has made the county a great place to raise a family and grow businesses. As County Judge he has led across the state, region, and nation – getting results for a stronger Arkansas. He serves as Chair of the National Association of Counties’ Community, Economic & Workforce Development Steering Committee, Veterans & Military Services Committee, and the Broadband Taskforce & Advisory Council.

“My role has been to improve infrastructure, educate, and empower employees and ensure public safety and security through budget reductions, driving efficiencies, and a focus on building our future.”

Prior to becoming County Judge, Joseph served Arkansas as the Deputy Secretary of State. He was responsible for the Business Commercial Services and Education Divisions and worked with the Elections Division. Results included making Arkansas more business-friendly by removing government barriers and red tape where Arkansans could turn an idea into a business, expanded education opportunities and civic engagement programs, and improved election security and reporting processes. As the Head of International Recruiting for Walmart and as District Human Resources Director for Home Depot, Joseph worked every day to recruit talent and develop leaders to increase ingenuity and innovations across the state.

“We are working to come back stronger from the COVID-19 pandemic and getting Arkansas’s economy moving, and this is the kind of leadership we’ll need to put Arkansas on the path forward. This is exactly what I have done and will do as Lieutenant Governor.”

“President Trump will go down in history as one of the greatest Presidents because he pushed ahead in the face of adversity and delivered results. Arkansas needs a proven leader for the future of Arkansas. I am a running as a strategic thinker and leader who consistently delivers results. I am running as a conservative, committed to faith, family, and fighting for what’s possible in Arkansas.”

Joseph is a foundling, abandoned at birth in the streets of Chicago on a wintry night and placed in an orphanage. He went on to find his forever family when he was adopted at ten years old. He grew up with two brothers and a sister in the tough neighborhoods of the city where his mother was an educator and his father a construction worker.

Married for 29 years, Joseph and his wife, June, have three daughters: Paris, Loren J’la (Jalen), and Candace (Marvin), and find great joy spending time with their three grandchildren Brian, Joseph, and Anna. Joseph has shared his leadership insights and upbringing with countless audiences. He wrote the foreword to America’s 20/20 Vision: The Plan and authored two children’s books, Saving Joey and Adopting Joey, based on his true-life story.
