Texarkana, AR: The Miller County Republican Committee will host a “Meet and Greet” for Republican candidates on April 26 at 5:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Four States Fairground’s AG Learning Center. The AG Learning Center is located on the fairgrounds at 3700 East 50th Street, Texarkana, Arkansas. Republican candidates are encouraged to attend and will be meeting directly with the public from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. At 6, candidates will take turns addressing those in attendance so that each candidate may state his or her platform and reasons for seeking a specific office. After each candidate has had his or her opportunity to speak, the meet and greet portion of the event will resume. Refreshments will be available and the public and press is encouraged to attend the event. Doddridge, AR – On April 6-8, 2018, the Sulphur Fork Trading Post will celebrate the 200 year anniversary of the Indian Factory. The three-day event will include re-enactors from Texas, Arkansas, and Louisana. Those attending the event will see reenactors demonstrating and recreating frontier life from the 1800s. Visitors can go through campsites and experience the time period of the Indian Factory. The event will also feature artifacts from the time period and a replica of a keel boat. There will also be music, games, and stories shared about the time period. Friday, April 6 is officially “School Day” from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and all students are invited to attend or schedule a trip. Saturday and Sunday, April 7 and 8th, will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Equality Texarkana will host a fundraiser today at Chipotle in Texarkana. If you bring in the flyer today, eat between 5-9p.m. Equality Texarkana, a non-profit organization in Texarkana supporting equality for all people, will receive 50% of the sale. Chipotle’s of Texarkana will donate 50% of each sale with a flyer to Equality Texarkana. The community is being encouraged to have dinner at Chipotle’s and sponsor the restaurant and this local non-profit. Liberty Eylau – The Liberty Eylau High School Band is getting ready for the march and performance of a lifetime. The band has received an invitation to perform during the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. this year. While the community and band boosters are stepping up to ensure the Texarkana area is well represented, the Ford Motor Company is going the extra mile to join the race. March 3rd, the Leopard Pride Band Boosters will present “Drive 4 UR Band and Fun Zone.” The boosters, along with the sponsorship of the Ford Motor Company, are ready to raise the $6,000, needed for this historic trip. From 11 a.m. to 7:oo p.m. the Ford Motor Company will be on hand with new vehicles at the Rader Dome on the Liberty-Eylau High School Campus. For each person 18 or older with a driver’s license taking a drive in one of the Ford cars, the company will donate $20 toward the trip. In addition to the test drive, a Fun Zone will also include games, music, raffles, concessions. The cost of the event is $3 per person and the public is encouraged to attend. You will also be treated to a performance by the Leopard Pride Band during the day. Spread the word and share this article and links with everyone you know. Texarkana, USA – a group known as Equality Texarkana is currently running a fundraiser on Facebook to raise funds for a Pride Parade and Picnic. The organization is a 501 (c) (3) organization and as such donations are tax deductible. The organization’s website (https://equalitytexarkana.org/) promotes Equality Texarkana as “the preeminent non-profit organization in the greater Texarkana area dedicated to equality.” While the group exists to advocate and defend LGBTQ rights in the area, they also promote standing up for anyone affected by inequality in society. Membership is open to anyone wishing to help promote equality. Members come from not only the LGBTQ people in society but others affected or wishing to make a stand against inequality have joined. Parents, friends, and others are encouraged to get involved. Equality Texarkana has grown and is currently offering scholarships, counseling, and the opportunity for people to join and be involved in a non-judgemental setting. There is also monthly social dinners, book clubs, and other events. A recent Halloween Party was a huge success in October! Maud, TX – On January 19th Maud ISD’s Twitter feed published the great news about second and third place winners in the robotics contest. According to the tweet from the official Maud ISD Twitter Feed the school had at least two teams place. Holden, Evan, Jacob, and Robert all worked on a team that placed third in the overall competition. Kullen and Jared’s team placed second and as a result, they will advance to the state level competition. Texarkana, AR – Edwards Masonic Lodge of Texarkana held an installation Tuesday evening and installed most of the officers for 2018. Edwards Masonic Lodge is located on Hwy 71 and has been in operation for over one hundred years. The current lodge was built in the 1940s. Edwards Masonic Lodge is recognized by the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Arkansas. Edwards meets with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by a monthly meeting each month on the first Tuesday.
