The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana will hold on-campus ACCULPACER testing on the following dates. Hope Campus:

U of A Hope-Texarkana Academic All-Star Recognized at State Conference

The 2020 U of A Hope-Texarkana Academic All-Star, Carolyn Dixon, was recently recognized at the annual Arkansas Community College’s Conference. In her time at UAHT, Dixon has made the Chancellor’s Honor Roll, been elected as President of TRiO Student Support Services, and Senator-At-Large of the Student Government Association. She also helps other students on campus by serving as a math tutor. The purpose of the Academic All-Star Program is to recognize the scholarly and service achievements of Arkansas’ two-year college students. Each All-Star receives a $500 scholarship for his/her final semester at their two-year college of attendance and a full-tuition transfer scholarship to any Arkansas public four-year university. U of A Hope-Texarkana Outstanding Staff Recognized at State Conference

The 2020 U of A Hope-Texarkana Outstanding Staff Member of the Year, Shelia Jackson, was recently recognized at the annual Arkansas Community College’s Conference. Jackson has been employed at the college for fifteen years and currently serves as a Library Technical Assistant. According to her nomination letter, Shelia is there to help students at all costs. She goes out of her way to ensure students have the books and supplies they need to have a successful semester. The 2020 U of A Hope-Texarkana Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year, Melanie Dillard, was recently recognized at the annual Arkansas Community College’s Conference. Dillard has been employed at the College for twelve years and currently serves as an Academic Skills and Math Instructor and as the Distance Learning Coordinator. According to her nomination letters, “Melanie is outstanding in so many areas. She is diligent in her work as an instructor and is always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. U of A Hope-Texarkana Outstanding Alum Recognized at State Conference

The 2020 U of A Hope-Texarkana Outstanding Alum of the Year, Jimmy Courtney, was recently recognized at the annual Arkansas Community College’s Conference. The outstanding alumnus is someone who renders special and outstanding service to the College, brings distinction to the College, and/or brings recognition to the College through exceptional service and significant contributions to his or her community, state and/or nation. Courtney graduated UAHT in 2011 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate of Arts Degree. He has been employed at the City of Hope Police Department since 1998. He began his career working as a patrol officer before progressing through the ranks to become Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigation Division. Continue Reading →

University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Chancellor’ Position Profile’ Finalized

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Chancellor Search Committee met on Friday, October 16, to formally begin the chancellor search process. The committee, along with UA System President Donald R. Bobbitt and UA System Vice President of Development and Planning Chris Thomason, finalized the “position profile” to be used as the chancellor position’s job description. The position profile for the chancellor can be found on the college’s chancellor search webpage at www.uaht.edu/chancellorsearch. The position will be advertised nationally to draw a diverse group of qualified applicants. University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Chancellor Search Committee Initial Meeting

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Chancellor Search Committee, appointed by Dr. Donald R. Bobbitt on October 9, held its initial meeting today (October 16) to formally begin the chancellor search process. The committee, lead by Chris Thomason, Vice President of Development and Planning for the UA System, will carefully and strategically assist in searching to find the right fit for the chancellor position. The initial meeting’s primary goal is to finalize the “position profile” to be used as the chancellor position’s job description. A specific chancellor search website has also been launched to aid in the search for a new chancellor. Bobbitt Announces Search Committee for Next Chancellor at UA Hope-Texarkana

LITTLE ROCK, AR – University of Arkansas System President Dr. Donald R. Bobbitt today announced the formation of an advisory committee to assist in the search for the next chancellor of the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UACCHT). Former Chancellor Chris Thomason stepped down from the role on July 6 to begin his new position as Vice President of Development and Planning for the UA System, while Laura Clark, Vice Chancellor for Academic at UACCHT, was named as interim chancellor. Thomason is leading the search for the UA System President’s Office and will coordinate the recommendation of a short list of final candidates cultivated by the committee for Bobbitt to consider before taking his pick to the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas for final approval. “Thanks to the strong interim leadership in place and the smooth transition that has occurred since Chris Thomason joined the system administration team, a rushed time frame is not going to dictate the outcome of this search,” Bobbitt said. “We will carefully and strategically be able to execute a search to find the right fit for the job, which is critical to that campus’s success. The 27th Annual U of A Hope-Texarkana Community Fish Fry Scheduled for October 23

The University of Arkansas at Hope will hold the 27th Annual UAHT Community Fish Fry on Friday, October 23, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. The fish fry will be drive-through only this year and will be accessed through the main entrance to the Hope campus by the electronic sign. The cost is $10.00 per plate, and all proceeds will benefit the UAHT Foundation. Carry-out trays do not include a drink. As always, the fish fry will feature delicious fried catfish and Tyson chicken cooked by the Hope Lions Club. Tickets are for sale now at the UAHT Foundation Office located on the Hope campus.
