National Honor Society of Arkansas High Welcomes New Members

Texarkana, AR – The Arkansas High Chapter of the National Honor Society welcomed new members at a ceremony Thursday evening at the Red Wall on the high school campus. Current officers, President Taylor Sexton, Vice-President Mary Cook, Secretary Kelsi Petross, and Treasurer Claire Fowler, presented information about the society and offered the welcoming to the new members. New members signed the membership book and participated in the candle lighting ceremony. Afterwards, friends, family and the new members enjoyed a brief social time at the Red Wall. New Members:

Seniors: Tyler Dawson, Markayla Gulley, and Kayla Morrow

Juniors: Harley Brock, Brittany Kelley, and Katelyn Todd

The National Honor Society sets membership requirements that may be exceeded or expanded by each chapter. From the website, National Honor Society, minimum membership requirements are as follows:

Scholarship
Per national guidelines, at a minimum, students must have a cumulative GPA of 85, B, 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent standard of excellence. (Each school chapter is allowed to require a higher cumulative GPA.)
Service
This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation. Leadership
Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others. Continue Reading →
